FilmLoop for Macintosh Available

Finally, I can stop using my Vaio for demos because today at Macworld Expo, we launched FilmLoop for Macintosh.

You can download it here.

This is one of the coolest applications I've ever seen. You can use it to do three things:

1. Share photos with friends, relatives, and colleagues.
2. Broadcast photos to customers, employees, and partners.
3. Find things that are for sale on the Internet.

In particular, if you're an eBay user, the use of FilmLoop to find auction items will appeal to you. For example, you can monitor the auctions of collector cars.

The only reason I downloaded the software is because Guy was so excited about it. In this era of web services, I'd imagine these things can be implemented with flash / ajax to create a real cross-platform experience. I have the installer in the back for a real long time, hesitant to click "continue" because I just don't see the benefit of having a desktop application for just sharing photos.

Just my 2 cents. Now I'm on to un-install the app.

I'm surprised! Film Loop seems a 1999-2000 service: the aim is to deliver advertising directly on the desktop of people... That's creep! At the end I was curious and installaed it to check you gallery about Jobs' slides: now it pop up and blik every time someone write a comment to the photos... and there is no way to customize it! Are you kidding? What did you smoke? Is this all that you have to offer or there is something amazing that is going to happen and convince us that this is a great product?

The idea is great. And I can tolerate the ads to support a cool idea like this.

But the "privacy policy" is abysmal. I read through it and left the site immediately. Requiring not only email, but (real) name, address, phone number (!), etc., to use any part of this service is out of line. If you want this company to be successful, I'd suggest actually paying attention to what the customers want, not what the site and 3rd parties want. :-(

Advertising is why I am NOT going to download and istall FilmLoop: unless there is a way to eliminate it... I don't see any good reason to allow companies to annoy me directly on my desktop... banners, tv commercials, billboards, stikers on airport floor, etc. etc. etc. are more than enough!

I knew you wouldn't forget about us! Looks cool... I am going to experiment with a FilmLoop with my family to share photos of the kids.

Also could have an impact on the real estate on-line biz and a potential hit for blogs as well!
