Oh Canada!
I’m in Waterloo (Ontario, no French jokes, please) to give an Art of the Start speech for Communitech. I just found out that the event is open to the public and free.
The speech is on Friday, October 6th at 11:00 am in Fed Hall on the University of Waterloo campus. Click here to register. I hope you can make it.

Guy, I've seen that you have been using Amazon Associates program to push book sales, I recommend you try out the Amazon associates widget we've launched on widgetbox.

Guy (nominated "honorary ambassador for the Canadian Tech Mob"),
So good to see you back "home" in Canada. Any chance to swing by Calgary or Banff anytime soon? Love to see you live.
Cheers,
Kempton

P.S. Shameless plug: For the Canadian readers here, the wonderful CBC Business show "Dragons' Den" where entrepreneurs pitch for real investment in exchange for part of their companies is airing on CBC, Wed 8PM (next show is Oct 11). Looks great.

P.P.S. Go Flames Go. Lets hope we beat Oilers by 3-1 tonight. Go Flames Go.

Guy, or is now Gee...like the famous LeFleur.
When are you going to make it out to BC for a speech.
Our tech and VC zone is quite healthy.
No 2 line passes though...

No plans so far. I'll post an announcement if/when I do.
Thanks,
Guy

Hi Guy - caught your speech today in Waterloo and thought it was great. I had read your book and was really just attending to get insights beyond those on paper.
There was a question that I was going to ask, but Iain had to cut things short ... so let me ask it here.
What kind of startups is Garage Technology Ventures looking to fund? In your speech you made several allusions to social networking as an area of interest ...
Thanks

Greg,
Thanks for the feedback. We're looking for West Coast software, IT, ecomerce, and other consumer-facing deals. Social networking would be in this list.
Garage Canada out of Montreal makes the Canadian investments.
Thanks,
Guy

Hi Guy,
Your talk in Waterloo today was DICEE.
Direct
Informative
Charismatic
Energetic
Enjoyable
You mentioned to be prepared to give something away for trial purposes. So that being said, I would like to take your MAC laptop for a 30 day test drive if you don't mind.

Guy, a suggestion if I may:
Stay in Canada; I know I would.

The European Waterloo is in Belgium, not France :-)

But it's where Napoleon lost, right? And Napoleon was French, right?

After the past week I read the title of the post I really thought it was our turn to get the "Top 10 Quotes".
Enjoy your visit.

Hope you took your gear - probably some great shinny (that's pickup hockey for those who don't know) around Waterloo right now.

Guy, hockey buff that you are... you likely know that RIM founder (and Waterloo resident) Jim Ballsillie just made a $175 million offer to buy the Pittsburgh Penguins.
