Help Wanted

iStock_000001334185XSmall.jpg

I need some help from people who are in the flow of interesting and true rumors. They would be folks who can provide “scoops” that begin with a phrase like, “Did you hear that...?”

For example, did you hear that Angelina Jolie just adopted another child? Did you hear that Apple is working on a cell phone? Did you hear that the dean of admissions of MIT resigned? Did you hear that Joe Thornton is getting traded to the San Jose Sharks? I’m particularly interested in these areas:

Entertainment
Politics
Sports
Business
Technology

If you’re a free-lance journalist, blogger, or industry insider and want to “tell the world,” please send an email to me, and I’ll explain. If you’re a paparazzo with bleeding-edge photos that would be fabulous. Thanks!

Hi Guy,
Man, where's the love of your fellow entrepreneurs (note: I wonder how many commenters are truly entrepreneurs?)

Congrats on the new site. Shoestring 101 rocks, don't it?

I helped conceive of the "Quotables" for PRWeb.com and it quickly became a favored enhancement. People want to get the quick inside skinny on a new release. I believe that's all you're seeking, right?

And cool that you included John Kirker's BenefitBar in your recent additions. Excellent add-on. Let's see if your site follows the hockey stick growth, or the hockey puck-off-the-net-post.

Best of success. Either way, what a great way to polarize your viewership. But I think your buzz machine might just cause some serious commotion.

Welcome to Web 3.0 (that's an open-source cobbled web app with social media connectivity and no known direction - "make a mess, clean it up later").

Dear Guy,
i´m a german freelance Visual Effects Artist and could provide news and "hot topics" from the industry since i spend a lot of time on the net/blogs/forums/etc being a member and at the pulse of the industry. I could provide news like "Did you hear that ILM will do the VFX for XYZ(insert movie name here)" for example and/or CG technology news if that is fitting for you.

kind regards,
Anselm

Any thoughts on how such a seemingly uninteresting concept is going to do $100M in revenue, the barrier which you personally told me is the only way a company is fundable?

Your request seems odd coming from one with a blog like yours. That, of course, makes me curious as to exactly why you are making the request.

I read a lot of news, but as for gossip.... I just don't "get" it. Who cares if Paris Hilton is going to jail? The whole gossip thing would be interesting to study, though.

Did you hear that the singular of "paparazzi" is "paparazzo"? :)

"Did you hear that Microsoft may buy Yahoo! for $50 billion? Read about it here.

Daniel, you mean Microsoft+Yahoo = mihoo? definitely not microhoo for sure...

wonderful idea! i really think this could be the next thing!
i feel pity this guy must really need the money. we need to donate some money to him so that he does not spoil the world with rumors! is there a way we can pay you?

if you're moderating comments and you publish this, you must have the balls..and you will succeed in this business. gl.

Idea looks good but not for Guy Kawasaki...sir atleast you should not change the world like this!

I'll try not to pre-judge, but at least to me, asking paparazzi for help to launch a website is not a very good sign. But I would happily be proven wrong here . . . .

Guy; really?

All the pitch's you hear, and this is the kind of thing you want to attach your name and valuable reputation to...another hurtful, hateful gossip site/company?

Really?

Re: "

The union representing Dow Jones & Co. is trying to sway the Bancroft family to reject the News Corp. offer.

But at $60/share, is the offer too rich to pass up for the Bancrofts?

Read about it here.

(I assume you're talking about stuff like this?)

******

Yes, this would have been perfect!

Guy
"

That's not a rumor! It's a quote from a Union Rep and therefore news which news.google.com could easily pick up.

Did you hear that Guy is the new Perez Hilton? He must be out of his mind! Please tell me this post is a joke.

Did you hear that Guy has sunk to a new low?

Come on Guy... gossip is one step away from pornography.

*************

Where would you rank prejudgment?

Guy

Did you hear that John Travolta wears a hair piece? And that Pamela Anderson actually has thin hair. Love them both and think they look good either way.

Yes, this would have been perfect!

Guy

Did you hear that... Guy Kawasaki is Jackie Chan! :-)

I think the reaction from readers is something to do with the way the piece was written - just a complete change of direction out of the blue.

Otherwise, Guy of course has the right to use his blog anyway he wants.

Great idea!

Did you hear that PGA Tour star Phil Mickelson switched golf instructors to Butch Harmon?

this came across my desk today...an AMAZING VIDEO....right on point for this discussion...

"light and clarity" to you!

jh

ooo, i'm just curious to see where all this goes.

sorry you're getting so much flack from your readers. i guess they don't quite get the fact that you really do focus more broadly than "tech news."

good luck, guy!

Did you hear that Broadway Musicals are now touring in China? Check out Broadway Asia Entertainment.

This year we are touring the following in Asia, including 10+ cities in China:

- Sound of Music
- King and I
- Spongebob Squarepants
- 42nd Street
- West Side Story

Be there or be square!!! :-)

Did you hear about May 1st March headed and oganized by Hispanics?

Did you hear that Carrie Underwood won all the awards again? read about it here.

One paparazzo; several paparazzi...

My thought is there's a start-up that's come accross Guy's radar and he's testing the validity before giving the nod.

You hear the one about Al Gore running for president? Read about it here.

did you hear 34 Duke MBA students caught on cheating? that's team work training must at it "not intended effect"... talking about training next gen leaders...

stick to tech, guy, that's what you are.
don't cover hollywood gossip bs.

Yikes...talk about some negative comments!

Like you said...you'll explain later. I have a feeling some people's comments might seem silly once they realize why you posted what you did.

did you hear Microsoft said "new Web apps are "changing the world of marketing."

did you hear IBM said cliant and server computing is dead?

did you hear someone call Guy want to get into inside scoops free?

that is entertaining...

Hello Guy, I ran into an interesting article about you on Digg.

http://valleywag.com/tech/self_evangelism/how-the-top-self+branders-sell-themselves-256614.php

Did you see it?

I agree with most of the comments. It just seems sad. The world doesn't need another gossip monger.

Did you hear the one about "Mission Accomplished?"

If any of you like celebrity gossip, I made the site Fafarazzi.com which is to Celebrity Gossip as Fantasy Football is to sports. Enjoy!

Chris

I hope (think) Guy is joking. Like we really need more "gotchas" and "scooping"!!
To wit...I was going to write an article about my visit(s) to Virginia Tech last week to hand out 600 "Hokie Hope" buttons to the students -- the rub "the local newspaper implied that the Hokie story might be a little stale now" -- amazing! Give me something fresh like Brittany rehab or anything Anna Nicole! Geeesh Guy say it ain't so!

Did you hear that Toronto's free local classifieds site http://www.AdsToronto.com has challenged the veteran site Craigslist?

shameless trolling. truly shameless. obvious the mentoring and art of the start mentality is falling by the wayside in one man's quest for power (or jut technorati rankings) way to go the path of the lemming, dude yamaha

Did you hear that Guy Kawasaki still has 21k links to earn before hitting number one on technorati?

Did you hear that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will play John Galt and Dagny Taggert in the upcoming movie version of Atlas Shrugged?

I hope this is a joke?

I am in a chock, and that is a truth!

Wow, Guy those are some varied topics you have there. Especially the Entertainment part.

Are you trying to challenge TMZ or maybe Perez Hilton?

As a Seattle Seahawk season ticket holder, heres something I didn't want to hear..."Did you hear that Darryl Jackson got traded to your division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers?"

What a bummer.

Did you hear that Guy Kawasaki is launching a new buzz?
