Help Wanted
I need some help from people who are in the flow of interesting and true rumors. They would be folks who can provide “scoops” that begin with a phrase like, “Did you hear that...?”
For example, did you hear that Angelina Jolie just adopted another child? Did you hear that Apple is working on a cell phone? Did you hear that the dean of admissions of MIT resigned? Did you hear that Joe Thornton is getting traded to the San Jose Sharks? I’m particularly interested in these areas:
Politics
Sports
Business
Technology
If you’re a free-lance journalist, blogger, or industry insider and want to “tell the world,” please send an email to me, and I’ll explain. If you’re a paparazzo with bleeding-edge photos that would be fabulous. Thanks!

Hi Guy,
Man, where's the love of your fellow entrepreneurs (note: I wonder how many commenters are truly entrepreneurs?)
Congrats on the new site. Shoestring 101 rocks, don't it?
I helped conceive of the "Quotables" for PRWeb.com and it quickly became a favored enhancement. People want to get the quick inside skinny on a new release. I believe that's all you're seeking, right?
And cool that you included John Kirker's BenefitBar in your recent additions. Excellent add-on. Let's see if your site follows the hockey stick growth, or the hockey puck-off-the-net-post.
Best of success. Either way, what a great way to polarize your viewership. But I think your buzz machine might just cause some serious commotion.
Welcome to Web 3.0 (that's an open-source cobbled web app with social media connectivity and no known direction - "make a mess, clean it up later").

Dear Guy,
i´m a german freelance Visual Effects Artist and could provide news and "hot topics" from the industry since i spend a lot of time on the net/blogs/forums/etc being a member and at the pulse of the industry. I could provide news like "Did you hear that ILM will do the VFX for XYZ(insert movie name here)" for example and/or CG technology news if that is fitting for you.
kind regards,
Anselm

Any thoughts on how such a seemingly uninteresting concept is going to do $100M in revenue, the barrier which you personally told me is the only way a company is fundable?

Your request seems odd coming from one with a blog like yours. That, of course, makes me curious as to exactly why you are making the request.
I read a lot of news, but as for gossip.... I just don't "get" it. Who cares if Paris Hilton is going to jail? The whole gossip thing would be interesting to study, though.

Did you hear that the singular of "paparazzi" is "paparazzo"? :)

wonderful idea! i really think this could be the next thing!
i feel pity this guy must really need the money. we need to donate some money to him so that he does not spoil the world with rumors! is there a way we can pay you?
if you're moderating comments and you publish this, you must have the balls..and you will succeed in this business. gl.

Idea looks good but not for Guy Kawasaki...sir atleast you should not change the world like this!

I'll try not to pre-judge, but at least to me, asking paparazzi for help to launch a website is not a very good sign. But I would happily be proven wrong here . . . .

Guy; really?
All the pitch's you hear, and this is the kind of thing you want to attach your name and valuable reputation to...another hurtful, hateful gossip site/company?
Really?

The union representing Dow Jones & Co. is trying to sway the Bancroft family to reject the News Corp. offer.
But at $60/share, is the offer too rich to pass up for the Bancrofts?
Read about it here.

Yes, this would have been perfect!

"
That's not a rumor! It's a quote from a Union Rep and therefore news which news.google.com could easily pick up.

Did you hear that... Guy Kawasaki is Jackie Chan! :-)
Posted by: Nelson Peixoto | May 2, 2007 2:37:49 PM
I think the reaction from readers is something to do with the way the piece was written - just a complete change of direction out of the blue.
Otherwise, Guy of course has the right to use his blog anyway he wants.

I hope (think) Guy is joking. Like we really need more "gotchas" and "scooping"!!
To wit...I was going to write an article about my visit(s) to Virginia Tech last week to hand out 600 "Hokie Hope" buttons to the students -- the rub "the local newspaper implied that the Hokie story might be a little stale now" -- amazing! Give me something fresh like Brittany rehab or anything Anna Nicole! Geeesh Guy say it ain't so!
