Halo 3 Silicon Valley Launch Party Photos

Halo Launch1.jpg

Halo 3 shipped on Monday at midnight, and there were launch parties at Microsoft campuses around the country. These are pictures from the Mountain View, California location.

This is the registration line. Yes, that’s Robert Scoble standing in line like any schmo.

Scobleizer with his five cameras.

Halo Launch6.jpg

He thinks his Canon 5D is better than my Nikon D40x.

Jas Sandhu, the Microsoft evangelist that invited me and Team Truemors.

The food spread.

Halo Launch14.jpg

Including exotic hamburgers.

Halo Launch16.jpg

Special edition Mountain Dew.

Halo Launch17.jpg

Blake Commagere, the author of the Facebook app called Zombies. Two guys in a garage with 4.5 million downloads.

Halo Launch18.jpg

Eric Wu of Emotioneric. Another great app that I can’t figure out.

Halo Launch19.jpg

I don’t know who she is, but she wins style points.

Halo Launch20.jpg Halo Launch11.jpg

Action in the main gaming room. There were tables set up with three flat-screen monitors, three xBox 360s, and twelve controllers.

Halo Launch21.jpg Halo Launch22.jpg

There was a single-elimination tournament. D2 = Team Truemors.

Halo Launch23.jpg

Our team in action.

Halo Launch24.jpg

The other team in action. Notice the frantic motion compared to the collective cool of Team Truemors.

Halo Launch25.jpg

A little adjudication about the final round. That’s Jason Mauer, league commissioner.

Halo Launch26.jpg

The second-place team. A fine bunch of fellows but second-place finishers nonetheless.

Halo Launch1.jpg

Yeah, baby, the winning team. Limited edition Halo 3 was the prize.

Halo Launch28.jpg

Winner #1 of an xBox 360.

Halo Launch29.jpg

Winner #2 of an xBox 360.

Halo Launch30.jpg

Winner #3 of an xBox 360.

And the big loser of the night: Anthony Nemitz of eBay. He could have won an xBox 360 when his name was called, but he was downstairs drinking beer.

Yo, Check out Http://www.PlanetHalo3x.com
They are the best Halo / Gaming Forum out!
Plus they are offering Halo 3 and Xbox360 Elite FREE

Guy, while I love your blog, your older posts are showing up in my RSS reader as "new" -- for example, this one is showing up as current for Oct 13. I don't know why; are you reposting them or updating them or something?

In any case, I'm not sure how to stop it ;)

Scoble looks like Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Cool Photos !

Totally would have loved being there! Great pictures.

I, personally, am loving Halo3 and sometimes even let my teen or husband play. But not often. MINE! I stood in line. I get dibs. (Isn't that how it works?)

I agree with Alex. A fourth teammate that we knew would have netted us a victory, but alas, we were to be foiled. But I can't complain that much seeing as how I got a free faceplate with Halo 3...

Good pictures though. But there weren't enough heroic poses. Ah well.

Great webinar yesterday on the Art of Evangelism. It's a true testament to your old age, erm "experience" that you stayed up late at the Halo3 release, and still had the werewithal to conduct a thoroughly enjoyable webcast!

Sorry about the Yahoo! bozosity, but you're only human, no?

If I were a single woman I would ask you if you know Winner #3 and if I could possibly acquire digits? What the heck -- he's cute enough -- DO you have the digits?

These are great pics...looks like a blast.

We all know I should have won the tournament! All the CTF bull killed my talent. I would love to rematch anytime, of any day, on any map, on any game type. We will win. At least I hope so... But they definitely did beat us that one game.

Haha. Thats great. So who was the winning team from?

That was huge in Irvine we were only 100 people

Gizmodo posted a pretty funny video about the next release here.

Guy... you called it again... better camera than scoble... championship kids, and Anthony Nemitz the big loser. You should have got a pic of his broken iPhone case though. oh and did i mention, better blog than scoble.

Thanks for coming to the party. Congratulations to Team Truemors, the cool and collected champs :) You sure you're not going to get them on the MLG circuit?

You mispelled "scobelizer".

awesome pics, I must say I agree, your D40x beats Scobles canon :-)

Actually, here's the set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scobleizer/sets/72157602146026606/show/

Nice photos! Mine are up here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scobleizer/tags/halo3svc/

I would say, Anthony Nemitz is the big winner! He took the opportunity to catch the taste of a good cold bear in real life (also achance to talk to real girls :-)). Much better than playing virtual games!

Sorry to say, Guy, but Scoble is right about the camera. Viva la Canon! (Now, if you'd somehow gotten your hands on a D3... then we'll talk. ;))

So the real question is: How's the game?

Why would I do that? I wanted to win one.

You should have called me:)
