It should be noted that landmines continue to be produced and deployed in the world. An international ban on landmines would go a long way to eliminate suffering.

Thanks for the link Guy...a truly inspiring post.
Incidentally, Devendra Raj Mehta was one of the laureates for the Tech Museum Awards (For technology benefiting humanity) for his extraordinary charity work in developing a lightweight, strong, cheap ($35) prosthetic foot which has helped to change the lives of tens of thousands of people in India and other third world countries. Watching the video is amazing in itself - see these people regain their lives with their new legs, being able to run at high speed and even jump off a tree! The prizes for these contestants should be a jaipurfoot I think!
