Christmas Gift Idea

iStock_000000132766XSmall.jpg

Thankfully, Craig M. and Carla D. pointed out Kiva gift certificates. Your recipient can go online and select an entrepreneur to support. When the loan is repaid, the process starts again. What a great idea for Christmas gifts.

Thanks for the point-out about Kiva. I know DonorsChoose has gift certificates as well, but didn't know about Kiva's.

Yes! I am planning to do this! As you may know, you can print out Kiva gift certificates. Here's what brought the project to a halt: Kiva doesn't have cards. 'Tis not the season for gift email; business associates in Europe send paper cards. I just posted to XING asking for help with this. I even asked my VA at GetFriday to ask around on Monday. We could, uh, buy blanks and print the certificate onto the second page? And uh, address the envelope by hand? I know it's no harder than finding and using business-size cards (which is not all that easy, actually), but as I say, I stalled. Come on, Kiva--make this easy! And until that happy day, does anyone have advice on the practical front?

It is great that you mentioned this now. It was something my family was going to do this year with all our loose change (pennies) that we collect throughout the year. In the past, we would exchange all those pennies and put it towards our Christmas tree or something holiday related for ourselves. This year, we have already planned on putting our loose change towards an organization like Kiva.

Thanks

This is both a great gift idea and a great marketing tool for Kiva.

Tks Guy, I never knew about Kiva.org. Just did my share.

Charles, I'm still hoping to have my credits redeemed. :)

What's the exchange rate between Kiva and Flooz?
