Example need: Using data to persuade people

I need an example of the use of data to prove a point to do something. The more counter-intuitive the data is, the better. Ideally, it would a brand’s experience. For example, XYZ Coffee Shops thought that no one would buy sushi at its stores, but it tried it and the fifty samples were sold out in twenty minutes. The most popular item was uni. Please send an email to guy@alltop.com if you have an example of how data was used to persuade people.
